Powerful music of Ivan the Terrible
S. Prokofiev: Ivan the Terrible | Musical preparation and conductor: M. Leginus | Choreography and direction: L. Vaculík | Scene: P. Čanecký | Cast: M. Radačovský, A. Szabo, A. Ducin, K. Bittererová, R. Kolodziej, K. Košíková, K. Kaanová, V. Šimončíková, C. M. S. Zaharia
“Musical preparation by Martin Leginus is the most powerful side of the performance. By this production he got an opportunity of his first own musical preparation in the Theater and he took advantage of it at the maximum. His Prokofiev is exactly as it should be; excellently gradational, supremely dramatic but also finely lyric, sappy, colorful, sarcastic, bright and bleak as well. Pretty worked details compose the compact musical form. It was unheard performance of the Opera Orchestra for a long time. It is an impressive experience under his conductor’s leading. The new ballet production offers an inventive choreography, quality dance, a first-rate music and a superb performance of orchestra.”
