Jose Cura in leading role of Otello under the baton of Martin Leginus

A first-class Otello, however, could hardly have reached a triumphant performance without competent singing colleagues and additional background. Here, the occasional visitor to the State Opera might get the impression of having witnessed a miracle: not the premiere, but the officially forty-first reprise made an outstanding impression musically and scenically. However, those who have been following the systematic work of Music Director Martin Leginus with the orchestra since the beginning of this season and his efforts to breathe new life into the repertoire titles (Aida, La traviata and Otello in particular) can consider a reviewed performance as one of the proofs of the correctness of the path the conductor has taken. In addition to the quality of the music, the audience was once again able to witness the growing level of the State Opera chorus
